The Public Service Star (Distinguished Friends of Singapore) award, a National Day honour of Singapore, was inaugurated in 1998, following the Economic Development Board's (EDB) initiative.

The recipients of the award are highly regarded international friends who have contributed to Singapore's development in business, industry, technology and science. Their special contributions in these areas have helped to strengthen Singapore's technological capabilities and standing in the international investment community.
