Japan-based Denka has made an investment commitment for a styrenics complex comprising general purpose polystyrene, methyl methacrylate-styrene copolymer and styrene-butadiene block copolymer. The facility will include the largest general purpose polystyrene-only plant in the world and will be responsible for producing Denka's top products. Its presence on Jurong Island enhances the latter's competitive position as a hub for world-class petrochemical operations.

UK-based Tate & Lyle plans a S$300 million sucralose plant on Jurong Island to produce the no-calorie sweetener that has a unique taste profile and functionality suited for a host of food and beverage products. The plant is the company's first major investment in Singapore and only the second sucralose facility in the world.
