Mead Johnson Nutrition to build Manufacturing Plant and Technology Centre in Singapore

On 8 December 2011,  Mead Johnson Nutrition (MJN) announced that the company was investing US$325 million in new manufacturing and R&D facilities in Singapore. The project is the largest capital investment in the company's history and will support its fast-growing business across the Asia region. The investment includes the company’s first spray dryer in Asia, which will strengthen its regional supply chain and help improve MJN's overall operating efficiency.

In addition to the new production staff, a number of management and technical positions will be relocated to Singapore to support the new facilities. By bringing together senior leadership and various supply chain, marketing and R&D staff in Singapore, MJN will be able to maximize the effectiveness of its new facilities and improve regional innovation by being more responsive to local consumer needs and increasing its speed to market.

Dr Beh Swan Gin, Managing Director of the Singapore Economic Development Board, said, "Health and nutrition is an important growth area for Singapore. We are thus delighted that market-leading companies like Mead Johnson Nutrition are establishing high value-added manufacturing and R&D, as well as management control activities in our city state. This is testament to our strong and trusted business infrastructure, connectivity and ability to integrate capabilities in biomedical sciences and engineering. We are confident that, with these new capabilities in Singapore, Mead Johnson Nutrition will be able to continue developing new products that meet the needs of their customers in Asia and beyond."
