Members of the media
- Let me welcome all of you here today and thank you for joining us in honouring Pratt & Whitney at today's Distinguished Partner in Progress Award ceremony.
- The Distinguished Partner in Progress, or DPIP, award was inaugurated in 1991 to recognise outstanding contributions of foreign companies to Singapore's economic growth. This Award represents the highest honour that we can give to any corporation. It is also our humble way of thanking our outstanding business partners for their continued strong commitment and positive contributions to Singapore.
- This year, we are very pleased to add Pratt & Whitney and Murata Manufacturing Co. Ltd to our Distinguished Partner in Progress honour list. They join an illustrious group of 18 foreign companies who have also placed their trust, confidence and investment commitments in Singapore. Some of you will remember that we held a separate award ceremony for Murata in August this year.
- Today, we want to pay a special tribute to our friends and partners from Pratt & Whitney.
- The close and long-standing partnership that Singapore has with Pratt & Whitney has not only helped to develop and enhance our economic vibrancy but has also benefited our communities. Pratt & Whitney, as the largest foreign aerospace investor in Singapore, has played a critical role in driving the growth of the country?s aerospace industry in the last two decades. At the same time, we wish to commend Pratt & Whitney for going that extra mile with their commitment and support of various industry initiatives as well as implementation of many good corporate citizenship programmes.
- Once again, we thank Pratt & Whitney for your many years of steeling support and confidence in Singapore and for giving us the opportunity to grow with you as your business partner. We look forward to many successful years of partnership ahead.
- My warmest congratulations.
