1. EDB announced today the appointment of Mr Kenneth Tan as Assistant Managing Director, New Businesses and Mr Tan Choon Shian as Assistant Managing Director, Asia Pacific with effect from 1 December 2007.
2. Mr Kenneth Tan, currently Executive Director, New Businesses, will be tasked to grow and expand the scope of developing new businesses in EDB. This would include identifying and incubating new growth areas for Singapore, such as clean energy, water technology, plastic electronics and other emerging areas.
3. Mr Tan Choon Shian, who left EDB last year to join NTUC as Director, Corporate Development, will return to EDB to lead in attracting investments from the Asia Pacific region, spanning Japan to the Middle East, and from China to Australasia.
4. Mr Kenneth Tan and Mr Tan Choon Shian will join the senior leadership team in EDB, headed by Mr Lim Siong Guan, Chairman and Mr Ko Kheng Hwa, Managing Director and the following current members:
• Mr Gong Wee Lik, Deputy Managing Director (Global Operations & Corporate Development) who oversees EDB’s global operations and corporate development functions.
• Mr Tan Chek Ming, Assistant Managing Director, Americas & Europe, who is based in New York and oversees EDB’s operations in Americas and Europe.
• Dr Beh Swan Gin, Assistant Managing Director, Planning and Policy who oversees the Business Environment, Planning, Resource Development and International Policy functions.
• Mr Manohar Khiatani, Assistant Managing Director, Industry Development who oversees the industry development and promotion of the following industry clusters: Electronics, Infocomms & Media, Precision Engineering and Transport Engineering.
• Ms Aw Kah Peng, Assistant Managing Director Industry Development who oversees the industry development and promotion of the following industry clusters: Biomedical, Consumer Care, Energy, Chemicals; and Engineering, Logistics, Education and Professional Services.
