Choice location for business continuity planning
Singapore hosted a major conference in July which showcased the latest information systems security solutions and shared practices in business continuity planning.
The inaugural DRI Asia 2003, organised by Disaster Recovery Institute (DRI) Asia was held jointly with Cards Asia.
The conference showcased:
- Singapore as a reliable, secure and trusted harbour for business
- Business Continuity as an important component of business infrastructure
- Human capital development and
- The capability of Singapore Government agencies in facilitating the immediate entry of business continuity planning and disaster recovery personnel.
Speaking at the conference, Mr Chua Taik Him, Assistant Managing Director, Economic Development Board, said in this volatile global environment, Singapore strives to remain relevant to the changing and diverse needs of global business.

And this includes training professionals in Singapore and in Asia on business continuity planning and facilitating the immediate entry of disaster recovery personnel to Singapore.
"Singapore-based companies can now bring in relevant executives from the region into the country to manage their back-up operations as and when there is a need," he said.
Mr Chua also talked about business continuity planning as a growing business estimating that the disaster recovery market in Asia-Pacific was worth US$551 million in 2001. He believed such market trends held tremendous opportunities for Singapore. |
