Since it was launched in 2003, the Biopolis, a biomedical hub with world-class facilities, has gained international attention and has put Singapore's biomedical industry on the map. The recent ground-breaking ceremony of Biopolis Phase III looks set to strengthen its position.

A designated multi-tenanted biomedical research facility, Biopolis Phase III is scheduled for completion by the last quarter of 2009. Biopolis Phase III comprises two buildings with interconnected basements, and will house laboratories, research facilities, offices as well as retail operations.

The estimated investment for the development, excluding land premium and rent, is approximately S$100 million (US$72.4 million). Biopolis Phase III is intended to extend basic research activities into other segments of translational and clinical research as well as medical technology research to tap onto the synergies within the Biopolis cluster.
