Singapore Human Capital Summit

Singapore Human Capital Summit

Singapore will be hosting the inaugural Singapore Human Capital Summit on "People Strategies for Asia" from 22 to 24 October 2008 at the Shangri-La Hotel.

Asia is experiencing an exciting period of growth and development. Integral to this development and the competitiveness of economies and companies is human capital.

The first-of-its-kind in the region, the Summit brings together global and regional industry, government and thought leaders. It will address human capital challenges and provide strategic responses to the competition for talent, increasing mobility of skilled labour, and demographic trends in order for businesses to maintain their competitiveness in Asia.

Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will deliver the opening address, while Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew will join delegates in a round-up dialogue at the end of the Summit. The event will feature more than 50 prominent global and Asian players, including Peter Sands, Group Chief Executive, Standard Chartered PLC; Michele Burns, Chairman and CEO, Mercer; Harish Manwani, President, Asia Africa, Central and Eastern Europe, Unilever Group; and Yasuchika Hasegawa, President, Takeda Pharmaceutical.

"As we continue our successful growth in Asia, we must attract, retain and develop the best talent. To drive performance and engagement and build leadership capability, we need to provide rewarding international careers. How we manage our human capital is critical and we look forward to participating in this important new summit," said Peter Sands, Global CEO, Standard Chartered PLC and speaker at the Summit.
